Margot grew up and trained as a medical doctor in Aotearoa/New Zealand, and moved to Lheidli T’enneh Territory in 2009. She is a Professor in the School of Health Sciences, a Co-lead of the UNBC Health Research Institute and part of UNBC’s Integrated Watershed Research Group. Her work is motivated by connecting with others to demonstrate shared respect for land, air and water as living systems, and as foundations for health, equity and well-being. She has two decades of experience focusing on health, environment and community connections in watersheds, including work with health authorities, watershed organizations, Indigenous-led organizations, and not-for-profit groups. She has served on the NWR Core Committee since it was established through 2024, and as Co-Chair of the NWR Core Committee between 2019 and 2022.
